MGBIDI EDUCATION FOUNDATION | OFFICIAL UPDATE
MEF Bursary: Updated Eligibility and Guidelines for Future Applicants
The Mgbidi Education Foundation confirms that its bursary programme will
continue annually. Eligibility, beneficiary numbers and award amounts
will be determined by approved guidelines and the funds available for
each application cycle.

The Mgbidi Education Foundation is clarifying the eligibility and
application arrangements for future bursary cycles.
The Mgbidi Education Foundation (MEF) is providing this clarification
regarding its bursary programme following enquiries from members of the
Mgbidi community and prospective applicants.
The Foundation appreciates the interest generated by the 2026 MEF
Bursary and the conversations it has encouraged about educational
support, financial need and opportunities for students from Mgbidi.
Following clarification from the Foundation’s leadership, the bursary
will be available annually to students who are already enrolled in an
educational institution and duly registered for their courses of study.
Going forward, an admission letter alone will no longer be sufficient
for consideration.
This clarification establishes a clearer basis for eligibility as MEF
continues to develop and administer the programme.
Eligibility for Future Applicants
Under the confirmed direction, prospective applicants must already be
enrolled in an educational institution and duly registered for their
course of study.
An admission letter, by itself, will no longer be sufficient for
consideration. Applicants should therefore ensure that they meet the
eligibility requirements and can provide evidence of their current
enrolment and course registration.
Applicants may also be required to provide results from their previous
academic session or semester, as applicable. The precise documentation
requirements will be confirmed in the official guidelines.
Beneficiary Numbers and Award Amounts
The number of beneficiaries selected each year and the amount payable
to each recipient will depend on the funds available for that year.
The Foundation therefore cannot presently guarantee a fixed number of
recipients or a uniform award amount for future application cycles.
Each annual bursary will be administered in accordance with the
resources available and the approved conditions for that cycle.
MEF will continue to screen applications and may prioritise applicants
with the greatest financial need.

MEF’s bursary programme supports its wider commitment to educational
opportunity and student development.
Selection and Screening
MEF will continue to review applications before selecting beneficiaries.
The screening process is intended to help the Foundation assess
applicants and identify those who may be most in need of support.
The specific assessment criteria, supporting evidence and other
conditions will be explained in the formal guidelines once they have
been approved.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to rely on official MEF
announcements rather than informal assumptions about eligibility,
award amounts or the application process.
When Will the Next Application Process Begin?
The detailed conditions and guidelines for the bursary programme are
awaiting consideration by the Foundation’s Board and Management.
Following their forthcoming meeting, MEF expects to publish further
information covering the approved eligibility conditions, application
requirements and other relevant arrangements.
The Foundation intends to publish the guidelines before the end of
November 2026. Until they are released, the confirmed position is that
the bursary will operate annually for students who are already enrolled
and duly registered for their courses of study. Other details, including
the application schedule and award arrangements, remain subject to the
approved guidelines.
Supporting Educational Opportunity in Mgbidi
The MEF Bursary forms part of the Foundation’s continuing commitment
to educational opportunity and the development of young people from
Mgbidi.
The Foundation recognises that students face different financial
circumstances and that appropriate support can contribute to their
ability to continue their education. By reviewing applications and
considering available resources, MEF seeks to administer the programme
responsibly while supporting students who need assistance.
MEF appreciates everyone who has made enquiries, shared information
about the bursary and expressed interest in future application
opportunities.
